WinPcap isn't supported on Windows 10. For 14 years, WinPcap was the standard libpcap package for Windows. But when Windows 10 was released without NDIS 5 support, WinPcap failed to keep up, leaving users wondering what to do. Fortunately, the Nmap Project stepped up and converted the original WinPcap to the new NDIS 6 API, giving users a fast.
The WinPcap project has ceased development and WinPcap and WinDump are no longer maintained. WE RECOMMEND USING Npcap INSTEAD.
WinPcap is an open source app consisting of a driver and a library, which taken together, make it an indispensible tool for using a large number of commercial networking tools, among other things. WinPcap has become the go to application for the sector, becoming just as integral a part of open source applications as it is for commercial ones. Since Win10Pcap has the binary-compatibility with the original WinPcap DLLs, Wireshark will begin to work in Windows 10 immediately after installing Win10Pcap. Install Win10Pcap. Download and install Win10Pcap. Install Wireshark (or other WinPcap-compatible applications) Download Wireshark or other WinPcap-compatible applications.
If you do insist upon using WinPcap, be aware that its installer
- Uses NDIS 5.0, which might not work well with newer versions of Windows.
- Was built with an old version of NSIS and as a result is vulnerable to DLL hijacking.
For the list of changes, refer to the changelog.
